Who We Are

Organization for Afghan Women Capacity and Knowledge (OAWCK) is an independent, nonpolitical, nonsectarian, nonprofit organization, founded by group of social workers and right activists in 2009-10 in Kunar province of Afghanistan.

It is registered under # 1888 with the ministry of economy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. OAWCK developed its institutional and management capabilities with the passage of time and is one of the leading national organizations now.

A gender inclusive, equitable, hunger free and healthy society through women social, economic and political empowerment, child rights protection, capacity building, WASH, Agri support & environmental protection, humanitarian assistance and renewable energy interventions.

OAWCK mandate is a gender inclusive, equitable, hunger free and healthy society through women social, economic and political empowerment, child rights protection, MHPSS counseling capacity building, WASH, Agri support & environmental protection, humanitarian assistance and renewable energy interventions
  • Short-term Objectives
    1. To protect women & children against all forms of violence and to strive for the rights of women/child at all levels of the society through awareness, training, advocacy, media, friendly spaces, psychosocial support and legal assistance .

    To improve the capacity of afghan women for social, political and economic empowerment and raise awareness for ending violence against women and developing awareness of society on human rights, women rights and child rights.
  • Health & Hygiene
    To improve the health & hygiene, WASH, mother & child neuration situation at individual, family and community level through basic health ,WASH, renewable energy , environmental protection and humanitarian assistance services.
  • Technical Capacity
    To enhance the technical capacity of Afghan in agriculture, natural resource management and livestock management to ensure vulnerable families sustainable livelihood and food security.

Medium and Long Term Objectives

  • To insure the protection of women/child right against all forms of violence and to strive for the rights of women/child at all levels of the society through awareness, training, advocacy, media, friendly spaces development, psychosocial support and legal assistance; rights monitoring and right reporting.

To provide services to women, girls and children particularly victims of violence and develop institutional coping mechanism for the survivors.

To work for poverty reduction through skill trainings, rural enterprise development, livestock management , natural resources management, renewable energy, Agri support and other income generation strategies.

To advocate with the government for integrated rural development, environment protection and basic health & sanitization projects for sustainable development while considering the gender inclusive approach.

To conduct research studies in different areas, such as, economic, social, agricultural, cultural, health, environment and other aspects of life for sustainable, peaceful and developed Afghanistan.

To conserve natural and cultural heritage to secure the needs of present and future generations
